Q: How do I place a hold to pick up from the lockers?

A: When placing a hold, select Greenburgh Locker as your pick-up location. You will receive a notification when your items are available to be picked up at the locker. Items will be available in the locker for 8 days after the notification is sent. 


Q: How do I place a hold if I don’t have a computer or internet access?

A: You can place a hold by calling the Information Desk at 914-721-8225 during our open hours and requesting assistance from a GPL staff member. If you call after business hours, you can leave a voicemail and someone will respond the next business day.


Q: How will I know if my hold is ready for pickup?

A: When you place a hold through our website, mobile app or phone and the hold becomes available, you will receive an email, text message or phone call notification (as per your GPL preferences).


Q: How long do I have to pick up my holds?

A:  You have eight (8) days from the date of the notification to pick up your hold. Holds that are not picked up within that time will expire.


Q: Are there items that cannot be picked up at a holds locker?

A: 

The following items cannot be picked up at the lockers:

  • Interlibrary loans
  • Museum Passes
  • Technology Items
    • Rokus
    • FireTV Sticks
    • Laptops
    • Wifi Hotspots
    • iPads

Q: Will I be able to use the GPL holds lockers if my card has fines or lost items on it?

A: If you have $25 or more in charges on your library account, you will not be able to retrieve your holds from a locker. Please call the Circulation Desk at 914-721-8204 for assistance with your card. 


Q: Can I use the holds lockers if I don’t have my physical library card with me?

A: Yes, you can scan the library barcode from the Westchester Library System app on your mobile device. You will also able to manually enter your card number. The process is similar to the self-service checkout kiosks at the Library.


Q: How do I get my items out of a locker?

A: 

  • Tap “Collect Items” 
  • Scan your barcode 
  • Highlight the items you would like to collect by tapping them
  • Tap “Open Selected Items”
  • Collect your items
  • Close locker doors

Q: Am I able to get a paper receipt at the holds lockers for my checkout transaction?

A: Paper receipts are not available at the lockers. You  can choose to have your receipt emailed to you by choosing the “email receipt” option on the checkout screen. You must have an email associated with your library account to get a receipt. See staff to add an email to your account.


Q: I can't get to the library before you close. Can you move my holds to the locker?

A: No, you'll have to designate locker pickup at the time you place your hold.


Q: What if I’m having trouble getting my items out of a locker?

If you are having trouble, please contact the library at 914-721-8200 during our open hours:

Monday: 9:30am to 5:00pm
Tuesday: 9:30am to 8:30pm
Wednesday: 9:30am to 8:30pm
Thursday: 9:30am to 5:00pm
Friday: 9:30am to 5:00pm
Saturday: 9:30am to 5:00pm
Sunday: 1:00pm to 5:00pm
